GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

 

The Director of Development will provide strategic leadership to develop and plan events and other marketing activities that raise awareness, fundraise, and engage donors and business partners to support the Women’s Refuge of Vero Beach, a Christian non-profit organization on the Treasure Coast. This position is responsible for all fundraising activities including grants, campaigns, event planning, gift planning, and public awareness. This position will also assist with online, social media, and print marketing efforts to increase public exposure of the events. The ideal candidate will be a woman with experience in Christian, non-profit fundraising.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. Oversee the planning for special event and marketing activities which will raise funds, enhance visibility, provide opportunities for philanthropy, and serve as cultivation opportunities.

2. Specifically plan and implement the three annual fundraising events: 5K Run/Walk, Physicians Symposium, and Golf Tournament. Also, the planning and implementation of our 20th Anniversary Gala event in 2017.

3. Maintain a calendar of marketing and event opportunities, and design and implement strategies to update and expand the Women’s Refuge’s social media and web presence to develop new sources of relationships and donor prospects.

 

4. Provide content and assist in the design for a variety of written materials, including but not limited to: invitation copy, program brochures and fact sheets, event programs, news releases, e-newsletter, newsletter articles, sponsorship requests, volunteer program materials, and website content.


 5. Speak briefly at public speaking engagements for various external audiences including radio spots, donors, sponsors, or events involving actual or potential donors, sponsors, or collaborative partners, or events with local and national elected officials, etc.

 

6. Write monthly progress reports on event and public relations activities for the Executive Director (aka Managing Director) and Board of Directors.


 7. Provide assistance with our donor tracking system, Servant Keeper, to assure accurate donor information.

 

QUALIFICATIONS


The ideal candidate will be a passionate, energetic, team-oriented individual who aligns with the mission of the Women’s Refuge and has the following qualifications:

 

EDUCATION: Preferably a BA/BS degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of three (3) years of planning and coordinating events and public relations in the non-profit experience or related field preferred.

Ability to communicate clearly and relate to diverse individuals and groups.

3. Highly organized and self-driven; ability to multitask and manage multiple deadlines.

 

4. Excellent oral and written communication skills.

 

5. Intermediate to advanced MS Office skills

The mission of the Women's Refuge is to provide a Christian program where emotionally and spiritually wounded people can find healing through biblical counseling. We offer both a community counseling center and a women's residential program. We endeavor to be a sanctuary where people can gain a new understanding of God’s plan for their lives. Our vision is to provide a sanctuary where women can start over with a new understanding of God's plan for their lives.
