General Manager

 

Position:  The General Manager of the Glen Eyrie Conference Center leads the Glen team to create an environment of hospitality excellence while advancing the Calling of the Navigators.  The GM will help to develop strategy with the Executive Director’s team and provide leadership, direction, structure, accountability and essential decision making to accomplish this purpose.  For all revenue generating activities, primary operational functions and assigned budget oversight, the GM will insure we deliver an optimal “Guest Experience” for all who visit Glen Eyrie.

 

Responsibilities:    

 

In addition to building and leading his/her own team, the General Manager will also serve as an active member of The Glen Eyrie Group Leadership Team.  Working within this larger leadership team, the GM will:


Oversee all aspects related to providing an optimal “Guest Experience” to Glen Eyrie customers in accordance with the mission statements of both Glen Eyrie and the Navigators.

Establish and attain both short and long term financial and revenue goals.

Maximize financial performance, guest satisfaction and staff development within established quality and budget standards.

Cast vision, strategy, direction and accountability for all products and services related to providing the optimal “Guest Experience” to Glen Eyrie customers  (group sales, programs, retreats, day events, special events, weddings, retail, web site, guest relations, marketing, event planning, food services, housekeeping).

Establish, maintain and communicate Quality Assurance Criteria and Standard Operating Procedures for all things pertaining to the “Guest Experience”.

Create a fun, encouraging, creative, productive and joy-filled work environment, which allows staff to thrive in their gifts and skills while meeting guest expectations and blessing God.

Professionally and articulately represent Glen Eyrie to customers, strategic partners, consultants, executive leaders, board members, etc.

Be prepared to greet key groups, meet with key leaders and address customer service issues as needed and/or required.

Anticipate conflicts and facilitate resolutions within biblical parameters.

Effectively balance the workload of managing revenue and operational duties, departments and responsibilities (Sales, Programs, Marketing, Event Planning, SOP’s, Guest Relations, Retail, Technical Services, Housekeeping, Food Services, Web Communication, Quality Assurance, etc.).

Coordinate and communicate expectations and responsibilities with all Glen Eyrie departments in an effective, efficient and timely manner.

Perform written annual performance appraisals and quarterly performance reviews with direct-reports.

Meet or exceed all assigned monthly, quarterly and annual revenue and expense goals.

Properly qualify and ensure that all customers are prepared for an experience in keeping with the Navigator’s priorities for the Glen staff, guest and property.

Prepare financial analysis, revenue reports, customer data, board presentations as needed to clearly communicate operational effectiveness, trends, variances, etc.

Active participant in the planning and execution of all Glen Eyrie Group staff Gatherings.

Provide spiritual and professional direction, training, encouragement and leadership to direct management team and staff reports.

Support, educate and perform any additional duties and projects as assigned by the Executive Director of the Glen Eyrie Group.

 

Qualifications:  The qualifications for this General Manager position are as follows:

 

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and at least five years of measurable success in executive level, organizational management.

Has a teachable and coachable spirit. Must feel a strong ‘call to serve’ in ministry.

A blend of marketplace business and ministry experiences desired.

History of developing, implementing and executing successful strategic and tactical business plans. Strong business acumen is preferred.

Goal driven, organized and a highly efficient manager of time, people and financial resources.

Confident decision-maker and implementer who is focused and self-motivated.

Proven track record of building and managing high performance teams.

Ability to identify, attract, hire, train, retain and develop successful people.

Healthy understanding of all aspects of hospitality business (operations, sales, marketing, retail, customer service, food services, P&L budgets, guest relations, public image, SOP’s, housekeeping, event planning, quality assurance).

A sincere, mature walk with Jesus Christ. Strong spiritual leader, models servant-leadership.
