Chicago Area Director

PERSPECTIVE
The Christian Medical & Dental Associations have been entrusted with the unparalleled opportunity to influence the healthcare market place for the cause of Christ. We believe God has positioned CMDA to respond to our culture by seeking to develop physicians and dentists who are committed to living out their faith in Christ through the crucible of patient care, bioethics, and technology.
POSITION OVERVIEW
An area director is responsible to create initiatives that will encourage the spiritual development of medical and dental students, residents, and doctors in a city or limited area. This task is primarily accomplished through discipleship and evangelistic ministry among the medical and dental community at large and specifically among students, residents, graduate leaders, and campus advisors. The area director position will be funded by support raised through the efforts of a local council, regional director, and area director.

That area directors are ministers allows them to serve CMDA members spiritually as well as socially and emotionally.

Area Director Specific Responsibilities:

- Minister to the growing number of doctors who are victims of the heath care minefield: malpractice, broken marriages, and spiritual and cultural exhaustion, counseling whenever the opportunity arises.
- Preach in Worship Services at CMDA conferences, including the giving of Communion.
- Perform marriages of CMDA members when asked.
- Preside over funerals of CMDA members when asked.
- Serve as spiritual counselor and pastor to CMDA members.
- Minister to the spiritual, professional, and personal needs of students and doctors through a variety of ministry initiatives (e.g. weekend retreats, leadership conferences, continuing education conferences, marriage growth conferences, the CMDA national convention, and national specialty meetings.
- Serve as the Spiritual Directors of GHO mission trips.




Area Director General Responsibilities:

- Articulate the vision of CMDA to our membership.
- Challenge and equip CMDA members to be Christian doctors.
- Respond to the challenges of the medical marketplace and provide a Christian worldview on these issues.
- Plan GHO mission trips if interested.
- Develop resources to extend the spiritual impact of CMDA.
- Be responsible for the administration of a local budget.
- Participate in the fund-raising needs of the Associations.
- Promote Association membership and involvement.
- Cultivate members for national leadership responsibilities.
- Train and disciple student leaders, campus advisors, and graduate leaders.
- Promote our growing international and domestic mission programs.
- Communicate the progress of the area ministry through newsletters and student and graduate meetings.
