William Carey International University (WCIU) is an emerging leader in providing innovative distance education programs to enhance the effectiveness of scholar practitioners as they develop transformational solutions to the roots of human problems around the world. We are seeking a dynamic Enrollment Counselor to promote WCIU programs and attract new students.

Job Title: Enrollment Counselor

Reports to: Director of Enrollment

Status: Exempt

Location: Remote/work from home with occasional office visits

Position Summary:

The Enrollment Strategist and Recruiter plays a critical role to promote WCIU, build recruitment pathways, and increase student enrollment. The primary goal is to enroll cohorts of new students for each WCIU program.  The employee works closely with the Communication and Marketing team to develop and expand WCIU marketing and communication strategies.

Essential Responsibilities:

Promote WCIU programs to attract new students, expand the admissions funnel and increase enrollment.

Recruitment/Marketing

  • Inquirer/Applicant Retention: Serve as the initial point of contact for leads and contacts. Provide accurate and timely program information. Build on-going relationships with prospective students, guide them through the admissions process, and manage communication with them via email, phone, text messaging, Zoom, or in person. Track contacts, inquiries, and leads in the HubSpot (CRM) and assist with student interviews.
  • Recruitment: Develop and implement new recruitment strategies. Identify new pockets of potential students. Build recruitment funnels within the Los Angeles area, North America and globally. Develop processes to work with non-profit and mission agency leaders to identify potential students. Make presentations at universities, college fairs, career day events, and other recruitment opportunities.
  • Marketing: Coordinate with Communication and Marketing team to develop and extend marketing campaigns (including marketing to international connections) using HubSpot, email, social media, and other promotional resources.
  • Creative Design: Work with marketing team to create or enhance website and marketing materials.

Networking/Partnership Development

  • Develop and implement sustained partnerships with development agencies, mission agencies, institutions, community entities, and other faith-based/non-profit organizations to identify and recruit potential students.
  • Maintain communication with international program partners/coordinators.
  • Expand network of contacts.

Event Planning

  • Plan recruiting trips, outreach events, meetings, interviews, and training activities (including events for program directors and guest speakers).
  • Manage travel arrangements (domestic and international).
  • Travel frequently and attend events such as mission conferences and church events to share about WCIU programs.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Attend WCIU staff meetings, enrollment meetings, and any other meetings as determined necessary by supervisor.
  • Remain current on best practices in recruitment through self-directed professional learning.
  • Complete compliance training as scheduled and additional work training as deemed appropriate.
  • Perform related and other duties as assigned.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build effective working relationships with leads, prospective students, applicants, faculty, staff, students, and external constituents.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English). Ability to write professional correspondence, documents, and marketing materials using correct grammar and punctuation.
  • Ability to consistently communicate (remotely and in person) with leaders and team members (as needed).
  • Ability to develop and deliver presentations.
  • Ability to work independently and in unity with a diverse team.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all levels.
  • Teachable, flexible, and resourceful.
  • A passion for missions and development work.
  • Ability to effectively use social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams).
  • Proficient in Adobe Photoshop and InDesign (desired).
  • Proficient in website and video design (desired).

Qualifications:
Required Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher (ideally a Master’s Degree).
  • Previous academic experience with the MATUL program or other similar program (desired).
  • International study and/or service learning experience (12-18 months desired).

Required Experience

  • 1-2 years of recruitment experience.
  • Experience living internationally, especially among urban poor (desired).
  • Multilingual (desired).
