JOB SUMMARY:
Lead the Generations Department of Cottonwood, advancing the spiritual formation of birth to high school students into fully devoted followers of Christ. Lead the team, both paid and volunteer, who serve this generation.
JOB GOALS:
- Increase the attendance numbers of the next generation and help them become fully devoted followers of Christ, through Cottonwood’s discipleship model of Gather – Grow – Go. “Gather” means they are in small groups sharing their faith. “Grow” means they are learning God’s Word. And “Go” means they are reaching their friends for Christ.
- Increase the Generations Team (staff and volunteers) in their leadership and capacity and help them advance in the Cottonwood department. Volunteerism should reflect the diverse membership of Cottonwood.
- Make the generations demographic a genuine, integral, and visible part of Cottonwood Church life, evidenced in diverse ways including engaging the adult family members of the generations.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Keeps a close and growing relationship with God through His Word and in prayer
- Passion to see people come to faith in Christ and become devoted followers of Jesus
- Loves connecting with the next generation and their parents to build safe, spiritual, stretching relationships
- Able to gather, build, empower, and release people to lead
- Strong team player, thrives in a collaborative environment and displays servant leadership
- Creative and strategic leader and builder
- Displays a teachable spirit
- Strong organization and communication skills
- Bachelor’s degree strongly desired but not mandated, with great evidence of experience and learning
- Graduate studies and a degree in ministry preferred
- 5+ years of experience in serving and leading kids/youth ministry

- Has assurance of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ
- Has a growing relationship with the Lord, evidenced by a love for Jesus and others

- Senses a calling from the Lord for this role and as such, will make a minimum 3 years commitment
SUPERVISORY DUTIES:
This position is required to oversee numerous employees and will be required to perform the following supervisory responsibilities: interviewing, orienting, and training staff and/or volunteers; planning, assigning, and directing work;
