$28,600 to $30,000 based upon experience

Summary: The Broadcast Audio Editor contributes to the creation of high-quality audio content for the LIFE Today television program. This person is primarily responsible for seeing through all elements of audio content from recording to building the final mix for multiple television markets. The position will work closely with various producers and editors throughout the post-production process.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create high-quality audio mixes for LIFE Today television and streaming platforms
  • Operate Pro Tools software for audio processing, mixing, and editing
  • Implement sound effects, music, and other audio elements as needed
  • Troubleshoot and resolve audio issues to ensure seamless production
  • Ensure compliance with broadcast loudness standards and industry best practices
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines
  • Maintain and organize audio files, project documentation, and archives
  • Stay up to date with the latest audio editing techniques and technologies
  • Assist with audio recording processes as necessary, both in-studio and on-site
  • Collaborate with producers and the creative team to shape the final audio product
  • Participate in creative team meetings and contribute to project planning
  • Provide audio support for LOI events such as banquets or off-site recordings
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications:

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required:
  • Proven experience as an Audio Editor or similar role
  • Proficient in Pro Tools or similar audio editing software
  • Familiar with various audio plugins (e.g., Waves, iZotope, McDSP, Sonnox)
  • Experience with a variety of audio formats and codecs
  • Experience with timecode-based editing
  • General knowledge of post-production equipment, processes, and procedures
  • Strong hearing ability, attention to detail, and a good sense of timing
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel for project documentation and reporting
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities within a fast-paced production workflow
  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills and the ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate with team members effectively

Experience/Education:

  • Associate's degree in a related field or two years of experience in a broadcast environment preferred

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations to co-workers
  • Strong communication skills in a collaborative team environment

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to understand and carry out written, verbal, and/or demonstrated instructions
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to perform repetitive work with a high level of concentration
  • Willingness to work overtime when required
