Job Description:

The Children’s Ministry Administrator is a key leadership role within our Children’s Ministry, responsible for overseeing the development, coordination, and execution of all programs related to children from infancy through 6th grade. This position requires a visionary leader who is passionate about guiding children in their spiritual journey, fostering a safe and nurturing environment, and equipping volunteers to deliver engaging, biblically-based lessons. The Children’s Ministry Administrator works closely with the Children’s Pastor to align Cottonwood Kids with the overall mission and vision of our church.

This is a non-exempt, full-time position reporting directly to the Children’s Pastor.

 

Job Responsibilities:

Classroom Coordination:

  • Coordination of Kinder to 6th-grade classes on Sunday, and Wednesday and special event services when needed
  • Assist in creating and designing visuals in the classrooms creating an inviting and engaging environment

 

Curriculum Development:

  • Assist in creating and designing new color sheets and activity pages for various curriculums: Sunday Services, Summer Jam, and other special events that might require curriculum
  • Assist in researching and developing teacher training material and children’s curriculum
  • Create both digital and hard copy training materials for children's ministry programs, ensuring they are easy to understand and effectively convey key messages
  • Develop content that aligns with event themes, ensuring it is age-appropriate and spiritually enriching
  • Create visually appealing flyers and posters for classrooms and special events, promoting programs and encouraging participation
  • Proficiently use Adobe Creative Suite for designing, editing, and finalizing all materials, ensuring high-quality and visually cohesive outputs

 

Children’s Ministry and Volunteer Management Support:

  • Collaborate in creating role descriptions for teachers and support volunteer staff from nursery through 6th grade
  • Revising and strengthening policies and procedures for the Children’s Ministry
  • Organize and manage the technical and software support components for weekly studies, Summer Jam, teacher training, and other curriculums

 

Emergency Preparedness/Safety and Health Coordination

(Under the leadership of the IT/Security Director)

  • Ensure CPR certification is current for all staff.
  • Ensure first aid kits are accessible in classrooms, and that all staff know their locations
  • Ensure all classrooms, including toys, furniture, and other materials, are disinfected to prevent the spread of germs

 

Technical Oversight:

  • Assist in the training and implementation of ProPresenter and Planning Center in Kinder through 6th-grade classrooms
  • Help and assist in downloading all monthly class curriculum and schedules into ProPresenter in the classrooms

 

Event Support:

  • Support the planning and execution of key events, such as Summer Jam, Christmas, Easter, and other special occasions

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Collaborate closely with the Children’s Ministry Pastor and other ministry staff to ensure the successful operation of the overall ministry

Job Requirements:

Experience:

  • At least 5 consecutive years of experience in children’s ministry, covering ages from nursery through 6th grade

Curriculum Development:

  • Experience in developing curriculum specifically for children’s ministry with a strong understanding of biblical teachings

Software Proficiency:

  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft 365, ProPresenter, and Planning Center

Attention to Detail:

  • Highly detail-oriented, capable of independent work, with strong proofreading skills

Organizational Skills:

  • Excellent organizational skills with a consistent ability to meet deadlines

Team Collaboration:

  • A strong team player, working closely with others to achieve ministry goals

Problem-Solving:

  • Skilled at addressing issues or challenges that may arise in the classroom
