Trinity Church | Job Description
Position Overview: Trinity is a growing church located in south Austin with 300 in attendance. Trinity is seeking a Pastor to fill a role being created to serve various ministries within the church. The Pastor of Ministries role will lead and oversee Trinity Groups, Kids Ministry, Student Ministry, and Events. This position will require a man who is a leader of leaders and possesses both shepherding/discipleship ability and good strategic/organizational skill. He is Gospel fluent and will aid with caring for the church body. He primarily operates in a kingly fashion by creating effective systems and structures and he also exercises priestly functions as he works to shepherd leaders and church members.
ESSENTIAL COMPETENCIES:
- Ability to relate well with kids, parents, and volunteers with the goal of creating a flourishing environment for families
- Theological depth - this includes a grasp of biblical and systematic theology, as well as a thorough understanding of how hearts and minds are renewed by the gospel of Jesus
- Alignment with Trinity’s Doctrinal Statement, Mission, Values, and Strategies
- Ability to communicate effectively and confidently in small and large settings
- Ability to lead, coach, and, and shepherd part time staff and volunteers of various ministry areas
- Ability to take a project from start to finish (see problem, make plan, execute the plan)
- Able to walk people through conflict resolution
- Self-starter, executer, detail-oriented, and intuitive
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Trinity Groups Lead
- Trains and equips Group leaders towards creating welcoming environments for discipleship, community, and care by developing a strong vision and strategy for spiritual development
- Provide pastoral oversight and leadership for Trinity Groups ensuring alignment with the church’s mission and vision
- Foster unity and cohesiveness among Groups, help leaders walk through Group multiplications, and act as point person for any difficult situations that may arise within Groups
Kids Ministries Lead
- Oversees all Kids Ministry scheduling and uses Planning Center for coordination
- Create or identify weekly programming
- Ensure volunteers are trained and equipped to provide a safe, spiritually flourishing environment for children and parents
- Run volunteer coaching, organizational processes, and Sunday morning programs with excellence
- Empower and equip parents to be the primary disciple makers of their children
- Create an inviting and clear pathway for visitors checking in their kids
Student Ministry Lead
- Lead and grow the Student Ministry (Middle School and eventually High School)
- Oversee Student Ministry volunteers in creating discipleship environments for students
- Lead families, volunteers, and students towards welcoming and reaching new middle and high school students and their families.
- Create or identify content for weekly programming at bi-weekly Sunday night youth group
Event Management
- Oversee Trinity Church special events including the building of volunteer teams to plan and execute events including, but not limited to, annual men’s and women’s retreats, quarterly church member meetings, equipping classes/events, and social gatherings
QUALIFICATIONS
- Seminary Education preferred
- Meets the marks of a Trinity member
- Demonstrated giftedness, passion and skill for systems, processes and administration
- Ability to mentor and recruit others into volunteer leadership roles
REQUIREMENTS
- Family joins Trinity Church as members
- Faithfully present at Sunday services
- Family becomes a member of a Group
- Prioritizes a growing personal relationship with Jesus
- Ability to respond to warranted and unwarranted criticism with grace and humility
RELATIONSHIPS
- Report directly to Mark Zeiler for day-to-day operations
- Member of Trinity Staff team
EXPECTATIONS AND COMPENSATION:
- 40-50 hours per week
- Salary: Commensurate with qualification and experience
- Health, dental, and vision benefits
- 3 weeks’ vacation per year
- Sabbatical: one month for every 4 years with approval of Elders beginning Year 4 (See Policy)
