New Hope Christian Church is seeking an Associate Student Minister. The Associate Student Minister works under the direction of the Student Minister and works in concert with the rest of the Student Ministry Staff and volunteers. The Associate Student Minister
position is a full-time, salaried, exempt position. The position is responsible for discipling students with the Gospel through events, environments and relationships with students and working through volunteers. The New Hope Student Ministry encompasses grades
6 - 12.

- An understanding, acceptance, and commitment to serve according to the identified Core Competencies of the church staff. Signing a written agreement affirming the commitment to work according to the staff Core Competencies is expected.
- A lifestyle congruent with the Biblical requirements for leaders (1 Tim. 3:1-13, 2 Tim. 2, Titus 1:5-9).
- Self-motivated, having a strong creative drive with attention to detail.
- Strong ability to lead people of varying ethnicities, socio-economic levels, and generations.
- A desire to teach and mentor students in Biblical truth.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A calling to pastoral ministry.
- Bible college or seminary degree is preferred. Major or focus in Youth Ministry a plus.
- Experience working in a similar position a plus.
- A good steward of time and the resources of the church.
- Ability to pass a background check.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the Student Ministry calendar, ensuring that all events and event details are in order.
- Oversee all details for trips, camps, and retreats (communication, registration, transportation, hotels, etc.).
- Assist in recruiting, developing, and deploying volunteers for the church’s student ministry, meeting with them in groups and 1 on 1.
- Assist in creating a long-term vision and strategic plan for how the church engages students that supports the overall vision and mission of New Hope Christian Church.
- In consultation with other Student Ministry staff and senior church leadership, assist in the development of an annual ministry plan for the Student Ministry and use that plan as a guide to lead the ministry.
- Using the approved ministry plan, and in consultation with other youth leaders and senior church leadership, assist in the development an annual budget for the Student Ministry and operate within the constraints of that budget.
- Teach the Bible to students with conviction, compassion, and care when scheduled.
- Regularly lead the students in short-term mission experiences (alternating between local and domestic).
- Work with other church leaders to find ministry opportunities for students in the broader church family.
- Participate in general pastoral duties as needed (weddings, funerals, counseling, etc.).
- Be available to preach and teach the Bible in adult worship services when scheduled.
- Actively participate in staff functions, meetings, and events.
- Serve as backup to the Student Minister.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
The Student Ministry at New Hope is a growing, vibrant ministry. The primary large group time is on Wednesday nights where regular attendance of 6th - 12 grade students is well over 200.
New Hope is located in Bartlett, Tennessee, a suburb from Memphis, and the church family represents the entire Memphis metropolitan area. The Bartlett City Schools system alone has an enrollment of over 4000 students in Grades 6 - 12.
