We need to hire two part-time Preschool Assistant Teachers. Hours are M-F 8:00-12:30. There MAY be some flexibilty with the hours.
Preschool Assistant Teacher
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Will co-plan, supervise, and implement morning/afternoon program for a preschool class in accordance with the policies and Christian philosophy of Mountview Christian Preschool addressing the spiritual, physical, emotional, social, and academic needs of each individual child in a group environment.
- The duties will include safe and loving supervision of a preschool classroom, serving snack, nap room, planning for and supervising outdoor or indoor play, planning and implementing a daily activity that supports the learning goals including literacy, math, science, social studies, and/or Bible.
All Child Care Staff Member Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must complete an Application for Employment.
- Must submit a Resume.
- Must sign a Nonconviction Statement at hire and annually thereafter.
- Must provide a Medical Statement at hire.
- Must provide three References at hire.
- Must be background screened at hire, FBI and BCII, then BCII every 4 years thereafter, paid by the preschool.
- Must sign an Employee Policy Statement at hire.
- Must complete all other paperwork that is provided by the director meeting timelines given including an on-line orientation.
- Must complete in-class observation before beginning the position as assigned by the director.
Assistant Teacher Qualifications:
- Must meet the Qualifications for Child Care Staff Members.
- Must meet the Spiritual and Physical Qualifications.
- Must have some experience in early childcare.
- Must have a minimum a Child Development Credential (CDA) or Career Pathways Level 1 on the Ohio Professional Development Registry.
- Must follow the Specialized Training Requirements (including but not limited to: first aid, CPR, communicable disease, child abuse).
- Must possess an ability to interact effectively with parents, peers, and administrative staff.
Physical Qualifications:
- Must be able to observe, hear, and respond to the needs of children and emergencies or conflicts that might occur in a classroom, on the playground, in common areas, and while attending field trips.
- Must have the ability to lift children of up to fifty pounds from the floor to waist high, to crouch to a child’s height and maintain eye contact at a child’s level.
- Must be able to sit on the floor to interact with children and to stand tall enough to reach children on play equipment.
- Must be able to care for up to the state-mandated ratio of children alone.
- Must be able to handle the daily stressors of preschool life and ongoing contact with staff members, parents, and children.
Spiritual Qualifications:
- Must have received Jesus Christ as his/her personal Savior and believe that the Bible is God’s word.
- Must be in agreement with the school’s Lifestyle Statement of Moral Integrity, exemplifying this belief by being a Christian role model, following the Biblical standard for faith and daily living with life-style choices that are spiritually, morally and ethically consistent with the teachings of scripture, conducting themselves in a way that will not raise questions regarding their Christian Testimonies.
- An employee is expected to demonstrate a teachable spirit, an ability to share love for others, a willingness to live contentedly under authority, and a commitment to follow the Matthew 18 principle when an issue arises with fellow employees or management.
- Must show by example the importance of scripture study, prayer, witnessing, service, and active fellowship and participation with a local Christian church.
- Must demonstrate Christian maturity in attitude, actions, and speech, showing a consistent walk with Jesus Christ, and being ever sensitive to the spiritual needs of others.
- Must be in agreement with the school’s Statement of Faith.
- Must include Bible stories, scripture, prayer, and song into the daily curriculum.
- Must have the spiritual maturity, academic ability, and personal leadership qualities to “train up a child in the way he should go” (Prov. 22:6).
